16.2 KM... Ka têm problema!!

Happy 2013!!

Well we had a pretty awesome and eventful week. Gotta love life in Cape Verde because it is pretty awesome. So things have been a bit slow because of the holidays but they are starting to pick up. What a relief...

So this week as we were walking to an appointment, our branch president called us over to give us a reference. Not just any reference though, the most amazing, golden reference you will ever find! He told us about this young couple that lives next to his house. The man is 21, the girl is 18. They are married. AND they recently left the Nazarene church because they did not support their marriage!!!! THAT NEVER HAPPENS HERE!!! Easily the youngest married couple I have ever seen and they just want to come to church! And they did! So awesome. They loved church, he showed up in a white suit, and they now have a baptism date for February 9. I love miracles and this was one that we desperately needed.

Saturday we went out to Cova Figueira for district meeting in the other district. Everything was going just fine and we had a really good meeting. Then the bad news... no hiaces were going back because there wasn’t enough people to fill them. If we didn’t get back that day, we would have been stuck on the other side of the island until Monday. That doesn’t work so we decided to walk. It’s only about 30km so no big deal right? WRONG! It was super hot and we may or may not be a bit sunburnt. We walked for about 2 and a half hours, roughly 16km, and then Heavenly Father had mercy on us and sent a hiace. Totally worth it though because if we hadn’t left we would have most likely missed that hiace. And we had a ton of people in church the next day so we were really blessed for our decision.

We also had interviews with President O and I will say that he is arguably the most inspired man in the world. I have learned so much from him and I couldn’t ask for a better mission president. Other than that though, our week was pretty uneventful. The parties finally stopped on Wednesday and life here in São Filipe is getting back to normal.

I hope you have a good week and enjoy the start of school again. Love you all!
